The bright red cape draped around his neck flapped as the young student ran up to Melissa Gonzalez, an Istation bilingual content and copy editor.
“Can you tell her why you’re wearing the cape?” teacher Janet Stoufflet asked.
“Because I moved nine points and one whole level!” 1st grader Emiliano exclaimed with pride.
Istation staff had the privilege of visiting Faith Family Academy in Waxahachie — about 30 minutes south of Dallas, Texas, — to see how Istation is used in real time and get feedback about the product from students and teachers. Ten staff members from Istation’s Quality Assurance team toured the school. They visited students using Istation in the computer lab as well as several different grade levels to discover what they liked and disliked about the product.
The Istation staff visited prekindergarten, 1st grade, 4th grade, and 7th grade classes. In each classroom, designers, graphic artists, and engineers were able to ask the students in-depth questions.
“I appreciated being able to hear what the kids wanted changed,” said Julie Ballard, an account executive at Istation. “These students are seeing our program every day, and getting in-depth analysis on their user experience helps us do our jobs better.”
The Istation staff took detailed notes and brought suggestions back to the office. Some of those suggestions and recommendations are now in the process of being implemented in our program. The visit went so well that Istation wants to visit more schools in the Dallas-Fort Worth area in order to continue interacting with our user base and improving our program.
Going on this visit reminded me that this is what it’s all about. To see these kids — to hear how they like Istation— is amazing. It reminds us why we do what we do.
Istation is partnering with local schools to make more trips like these possible. If you are interested in hosting Istation at your school, please contact me at [email protected].
