Istation has recently released a report showing ISIP assessments can be used to predict achievement levels in ELA on the Georgia Milestones Assessment.
Southern Methodist University conducted the research that compares Istation ISIP data and Georgia Milestones Assessment scores in the state of Georgia from the 2015-2016 school year. Reading test data was used from grades 3 through 6. The study found very strong correlations between ISIP Reading and Georgia Milestones English language test scores across grade levels.
This study also provides the ISIP cut scores needed to predict the achievement level on the Georgia Milestones Assessment for Levels 3 and 4. The table below displays these cut scores:
How do I use this information with my students?
You can use your students’ ISIP scores to help predict which students are unlikely to pass, likely to pass, or “on the bubble” for achievement levels 3 and 4 of the Georgia Milestones English Language assessment, and to help them prepare.
For example, if your 3rd grade students are scoring well above 259 on ISIP ahead of the Georgia Milestones exam, they are more likely to achieve a Level 3 or higher on Georgia Milestones than those scoring well below 259.
If your 3rd grade students are scoring right around 259, then they are “on the bubble” and may need some additional intervention to make them more likely to achieve Level 3 performance.
Where do I view my students’ ISIP scores?
Students’ ISIP scores are published monthly after they have completed the ISIP assessment.
The Summary Report is a great way to view your students’ ISIP scores and compare them to the cut scores that are predictive of Georgia Milestones performance.
