Help Teachers Build Students’ SEL Skills with Blended Learning

Strong social-emotional learning (SEL) skills help students manage stress, make responsible decisions, maintain healthy self-esteem, and much more. With unexpected school closures, students face a fresh set of SEL challenges as they shift to distance learning.

Educational leaders must find new ways to support teachers and parents to keep building SEL skills while learning is remote. Plus, since school likely will not look the same upon re-entry this fall, SEL is emerging as a priority to help ease the transition.

In an Education Week survey of district administrators across the country, SEL jumped to third place among top priorities for back to school, which was a big jump over the current school year.

Listen to the podcast Helping Teachers Lead Through Crisis: Remote Success with Social Emotional Learning with Jane Moore, Ed.D., former principal and part of Istation’s professional development team, along with 3rd-grade Dallas ISD teacher Crystal Smith as they share valuable insights on boosting teachers’ SEL competencies.
