Istation is continually adding new features to its programs to make learning more accessible and engaging. To this end, subtitles are now available in every scene in NexLevel, Istation’s middle school reading program, and students now earn achievements for exploring content, unlocking secrets, and improving performance.
Subtitles are available for students playing NexLevel.
Designed to maximize student agency and provide authentic learning experiences, NexLevel offers relatable characters and environments, branching narratives, an adaptive arcade, and an engaging overall game narrative, all deeply rooted in and aligned to the standards. Now, with the addition of subtitles, this captivating educational experience is more accessible than ever. Using the toggle button in the bottom right corner of the screen, students can easily turn subtitles on or off to suit their needs and immerse themselves in the adventure.
Subtitles button can be toggled on or off.
NexLevel is also proud to introduce achievements, a reward system that motivates students to explore content and practice their skills. When students earn an achievement, a notification appears in the bottom left corner of the screen, alerting them to check their dashboard, where they can track their progress. Achievements are given for everything from getting high scores on Arcade games to exploring all of the endings in the Sherlock Holmes choose-your-own-adventure mystery. There are even a few secret achievements sprinkled throughout the program to keep students guessing and coming back for more.
NexLevel Achievements give students the chance to earn new rewards.
Once students reach the end of NexLevel, the complete list of achievements is revealed to them so they can hunt for everything they missed along the way. Using content-on-demand features in the Endgame Hub or by activating New Game Plus, students can replay content until they check off everything on their list. And since everything in NexLevel is built around choice, the adventure changes each time they revisit scenes. In many cases, students receive completely different questions, which gives them new opportunities to practice essential reading comprehension and vocabulary skills.
NexLevel’s Arcade games let students practice their vocabulary and word analysis skills.
With these new additions, we hope your students continue to engage and explore with Istation’s middle school reading activities to master skills they have been working on all year long. Stay tuned for more product feature updates on Istation’s blog!
