Many teachers are looking for ways to engage middle school learners and have asked, ‘How can I give my students more agency and choice in what they are learning?’ Now, thanks to some exciting new features, the Istation middle school adventure continues with more choices than ever before!
When students complete their journey in NexLevel, they advance to the Endgame Hub, where they can access content on demand. They play games in the Arcade, replay lessons in the Virtual World, read stories and publish responses in the World of Wonders archive, and access additional middle school reading content using the Ipractice bridge. But that’s not all.
NexLevel is proud to announce New Game Plus, an exciting new feature that allows students to replay the entire game from the beginning. Students keep their avatars, high scores, notes, and profile information, but they can make new choices along the way and create a brand new experience.
Everything in NexLevel is designed to maximize student choice and agency. For example, in the Sherlock Holmes interactive branching narrative, students can see four completely different endings based on the decisions they make along the way. Additionally, the program alters the questions based on their choices, giving them another chance to practice important comprehension skills. New Game Plus also reports data and sends priority alerts so teachers have another opportunity to monitor student progress.
Looking to the future, NexLevel will be releasing player achievements in September. Students can use the Endgame Hub and New Game Plus to unlock achievements they may have missed the first time through. This is especially helpful for students who like to play and replay games to collect all of the rewards available.
