Meet Istation's Math Villians

Today’s Halloween blog post is all about our new and frightening Istation villains wreaking havoc in our recently updated elementary math instruction product for students in grades 2 through 5.

We encourage you to share the stories of these wicked villains who will challenge and engage your elementary math students.

First there’s the wacky Miss Match, who feels most at ease in a topsy-turvy world filled with confusion. Neatniks, or people who just want to live normally, beware! It’s up to your students to apply their math skills and clean up her messy tracks.

Mr. X despises the fact that his germaphobic tendencies have him stuck in an airtight suit, shut off from the rest of the world. To free himself, he conducts strange and unsafe experiments with his eXabites to rid the world of all germs — but at the expense of the earth’s ecosystem! Place value and rounding are where he is most vulnerable, so make sure your students have their game faces on.

Let’s not forget the corrupt Pie Face and his crony, Pepperoni. It’s a Friday evening and you’re looking forward to a delicious pizza and a relaxing night in. Pie Face loves to ruin your Friday night and pizza order, literally turning your dinner into garbage. Through the correct comparison of fractions to decimals, your students will heroically keep the peace for all the fearful pizza lovers out there.

In a quiet, empty theater with rabbits still missing from hats, the curtains have closed for the once famous Math-a-Magician. Feeling bitter about the digital age, the Math-a-Magician is going to make sure the city knows his name and magic while leaving the city in ruins. Operations knowledge will empower your students to make the Math-A-Magician disappear — voila!

The Spider Queen has the city tangled in a web of confusion. Her plan is to immobilize the city’s citizens and force them to provide her with the attention and praise she so deeply desires. Students can keep the city moving and the Spider Queen at bay by applying their knowledge of operations with whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.

Happy Halloween from Istation!
