Collecting classroom data can be useful throughout the school year to plan lessons, coordinate activities, and maximize student engagement. In a sea of data, it can be hard to pick out which pieces are the most useful for teachers in the classroom.

Every time someone finds out that I have worked in the field of bilingual education for more than 18 years, this is the question that always comes up: When is the best time to become bilingual? My answer is this: the best time is now!

To watch teens persist for long stretches at a video game or skateboard trick gives us Gen X and Baby Boomers a lot to think about. Why can they focus on this so diligently but are so markedly less engaged in school? Lots of research has revealed the power of game-based learning and the folks at Istation have taken that research to heart.

Studies show that children who attend prekindergarten programs are better prepared for kindergarten than children who do not. During their time at school, pre-K students develop and hone fundamental social and fine motor skills. This is particularly true for students who come from disadvantaged homes and/or are dual-language learners. Studies continue to show the benefits and influence on future success that come from building foundational academic and social skills as early as age 3.
